ANZAC PROSPECT

The Anzac prospect was identified in 2008 by CSA Global (P. Mattinson) in its report to Norseman Gold PLC, which held an exploration tenement immediately north of Anzac at the time (E63/956). Norseman Gold appears to have immediately acted on CSA Global’s recommendation to secure the areas to the south of E63/956, making application on 10 April 2008 for E63/1232, which was subsequently granted but surrendered in September 2011 without the conduct of any exploration. Norseman Gold PLC was experiencing working capital issues at the time, and on 3 October 2012, entered voluntary administration.
Figure 1 - ANZAC Magnetic Anomaly (as identified by CSA Global (Mattinson), May 2008)
Anzac sits on the intersection of a north east magnetic trend (structure) and the lower limb of NE fold structure, underlying is a moderate gravity high (see Figure 1, above). Anzac has not been subject to any prior ground based exploration (see Figures 2 and 3). AngloGold Ashanti held large tenement positions in the Southern Fraser Range until ~2012, but its soil and calcrete sampling, air-core drilling and RAB drilling did not extend to Anzac (as illustrated in Figures 2 and 3), due to the prospect falling just outside of its ground position.
In its 2008 report to Norseman Gold, CSA Global wrote “Lineament interpretation of the aeromagnetics has identified a locality immediately south of the existing tenements, where two major structural trends intersect. The locality is highly prospective for gold mineralisation associated with brittle ductile deformation. Secondly, Tropicana style mineralisation (+4million ounces) is most likely associated with linear structural corridors and intense alteration. The current tenement plans indicate that this area is vacant ground. Given the prospectivity of this area an EL application should be submitted at the earliest opportunity.”
Presumably based on the advice from CSA Global, Norseman Gold proceeded to apply for an exploration licence over the entire area south of it granted tenement E63/956 on 4 April 2008, application E63/1232 (which was later granted). Norseman Gold relinquished all of its Southern Fraser Range tenements on 29 September 2011, presumably due to a reduction in its exploration budget because of working capital issues. There are no reports of any on-ground exploration being conducted by Norseman Gold on any of its Southern Albany-Fraser Orogen tenements, despite the strong recommendations from CSA Global (also see Norseman Project for further details).
